Mahavira News:

On April 24, 2023, the fifth day of the lunar third month, the Abbot Venerable Chuan Jie organized the grand opening of the Ancient Buddha Temple.

Venerable Chuan Jie has reconstructed the main hall, Tian Huang Hall, Chanting Hall, Meditation Hall, and dormitory. The ancient Buddha temple was built in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties with more than 300 years of history.

In the year 2007, Venerable Chuan Jie has appointed as the superintendent of the Ancient Buddha Temple. In the year 2009, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Yuan Tong Hall. In 2016, the Yuan Tong Hall was consecrated, various Dharma activities were conducted to benefit Buddhist devotees, and Buddhist chanting and practice sessions began to be held.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in the year 2020, Venerable Chuan Jie demolished and constructed the original old hall. At the same time, the construction project was successfully completed with the support of local Buddhist businessmen.

All participants gathered at the ceremony, and the local Businessmen and government leaders of Meizhou City and Wuhua attended this sacred ceremony.

The Abbot of Wihara Mahavira Graha Most Venerable Hui Xiong was invited to preside over the ceremony. Venerable Chuan Jie and Venerable Chuan Hua were the disciples of Venerable Hui Xiong during the millennium.

The Venerable abbot had advised his disciples that, the reconstruction of the temple had been completed and now the more important thing is to put the effort into propagating the Buddha-Dharma.

During the pandemic, all activities have been suspended for three years and now should resume the work of propagating the Dharma, and inspiring Buddhists to contribute to society and the country through cultivating the thought of the “Pure Land of Idealism, Amitabha of Self-nature”. It means step after step we traverse the mind’s Pureland, Being after being we realize our intrinsic Amitabha.

The location of Wuhua is in Meizhou, and many literati, businessmen, and beautiful talents have emerged. In the early days, the virtues passed down by our Hakka people were not only to do good deeds but also to purify the mind and build the pure land of Amitabha.

After the ceremony, group photos were taken at the main hall.
