The Liang Huang Jeweled Repentance liturgy was the king of the Repentance Sutra and was written and compiled in the Southern Liang Dynasty in China by the famous Chan Master Venerable Zhi Gong at the request of Emperor Wu.
In Buddhism, repentance is one of the most important in daily practice. We have created lots of evil thoughts, speech, and deeds since past lives till present. The only way to eradicate those evil thoughts, speech, and deeds is by practicing Repentance.
Emperor Wudi had dream sentience beings suffered in the six realms and asked the Venerable Zhi Gong, a Buddhist high monk, for advice to help relieve the suffering and liberate all beings.
Venerable Zhi Gong then gathered many high-ranking monastic monks from India and China to help the emperor to collect the connotation of the Tripitaka as a way to save all sentient beings from the sufferings of the six realms.
Repentance is emphasized in Mahayana Buddhism. The goal is to bow to purify existing karmic offenses, thus clearing obstructions, eliminating disasters, and paving the way for advancement on the Bodhi path.
To study the Mahayana Dharma, one must practice the Bodhisattva’s great compassion and vows. Only when we have compassionate vow, we can inspire Bodhicitta, and attend the enlightenment in the future.
After three years of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world today, people are worried, panic, puzzled, hesitant, thinking that there is a certain invisible force in the world to dominate human life. But as Buddhist, we must cultivate the right thought, through thinking the cause of all sentient beings in the world comes from the karma and retribution created by oneself; the Covid-19 pandemic is the most suitable inspiration for people to realize the world.
Because we live in the world, we pursue endless desires, commit sins, have no self-reflection, and do not want to change our wrong thinking and behaviors, but instead of changing our mistakes, we increase selfishness, arrogance, hatred, do not believe Buddhism, the cause and effect, do not forgive Others, tolerance and commitment to all sentient beings.
Through the practicing of Buddhism, learn the Bodhisattva’s compassionate vows to tolerate, accept mistakes and forgive others.
Therefore, through the practice of repentance, we dedicate the repentance merits to all the sentient beings of the six realms, so that all living beings can be free from the wheel of suffering, cultivate the way of liberation, and be solemn and peaceful.
On the second day of the Dharma Convention, the Yogacara Ulka Mukha Dharma service was conducted, to liberate all sentient beings from suffering and hatred. Everyone practices the Bodhisattva’s great compassionate vows and is liberated from the cycle of life and death.
Under the leading of the Sangha, the Dharma prayer convention is full of solemn and joy.
