As we welcome the New Year 2569 B.E., the world has achieved remarkable progress with modern
technology shaping human life. However, behind this modern era lies ancient wisdom that has guided
human civilization for thousands of years, such as astronomy and geography, evident through natural
phenomena like the tides.

This ancient wisdom serves as the foundation for the modern civilization we enjoy today. Although there
are concerns that advanced technology may threaten human survival, particularly by replacing many labor
skills, it is crucial to remember that technology is merely a tool. Technology lacks emotions and empathy,
qualities inherent in humans. From the perspective of Mahayana Buddhism, humans possess immense
latent potential, which can only be realized through the Bodhisattva spirit of selfless devotion for the
happiness of all beings

Mahanayaka Chaokun Ven. Hui

No matter how advanced, technology cannot replace human values such as compassion, empathy, and
wisdom. People lost in ego and arrogance often fail to recognize the positive potential within themselves.

No matter how advanced, technology cannot replace human values such as compassion, empathy, and
wisdom. People lost in ego and arrogance often fail to recognize the positive potential within themselves.
Therefore, it is essential for us to harness this positive energy to create a balance between positive
perspectives and the use of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). Technology must be a tool
that helps humans contribute positively to the global society.
In this process, honesty becomes an invaluable virtue. We must distance ourselves from a culture of
manipulation and develop a universal perspective that transcends differences. By doing so, we can bring
happiness to everyone and achieve moral perfection grounded in wisdom.

Those who live with the Bodhisattva spirit — whose hearts are filled with universal compassion, empathy,
and wisdom — will not resort to violence or harm others. They will not fall prey to the manipulative
temptations that often arise in this modern technological era.

Together with the Chinese Buddhist community, we are organizing activities to emphasize the importance
of virtues that have been passed down for thousands of years. This ancient tradition is rich with universal
insights that serve as moral foundations for living life. During this Lunar New Year, we are encouraged
not only to pursue personal gain but also to honor our ancestors and predecessors who have contributed to
society and the nation. Furthermore, we must learn to care for the environment, as well as for our country
and Mother Earth.

May the wise Year of the Snake bring harmony between advancing technology and the universal wisdom
of ancient philosophy, providing immense benefits to all.
Sabbe Satta Bhavantu Sukitatha. Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha.

May all beings be happy.
Happy Lunar New Year 2569 B.E. / 2025!
