Beeh Low See Temple Singapore Celebrated the Mid Autumn Festival with the Elderly Citizens

On September 30, 2023, the annual Mid-Autumn Festival has become a day for various ethnic groups to celebrate and integrate.
During the festival, the Beeh Low See Temple in Singapore invited more than 600 elders Senior citizens from 9 estates districts in Singapore to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural banquet. On the day, more than a thousand devotees attended.
The guest of honour Ms. Sim Ann, the Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, in her speech said the Mid-Autumn Festival is a good day for reunion family gatherings, honoring the elderly, and for various ethnic groups to integrate each other and celebrate culture in the neighborhood.
Every year, Beeh Low See Temple uses different kinds of ways to invite the elderly to attend the celebration. I am very happy to be a councilor of this district and welcome residents of all ethnic groups from different areas to attend the banquet in the temple.
Later, the minister together with the Mahayana and Theravada Sangha, followed the presidium directors of the temple management committee and the donors’ representatives to distribute moon cakes and “Ang Pao” to the elderly at each table to show respect and care for the elderly.

Most Venerable Guang Phing, the President of the Singapore Buddhist Federation, delivered a speech during the Mid-Autumn Festival. He said that as a Buddhists, we have the responsibility and obligation to show love and care to the elderly in various regions. Mid-Autumn Festival shows condolences and care for filial piety are Mahayana Buddhist practices and filial piety for all living beings.

Most Venerable Hui Xiong, the abbot and Senior Vice President cum Secretary General Of the World Buddhist Sangha Council in his speech said, hoping through cultivate bodhicitta and attain the Buddha path, especially practice to benefit others is to benefit ourselves and the altruistic spirit of Chinese Mahayana Buddhism, we must promote filial piety and care.
The culture of filial piety encourages us to imitate the compassionate vows of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and achieve the positive energy of Bodhisattvas in the world. All earthly joys originate from benevolence towards others.
All earthly miseries arise from selfish desires. The unenlightened ones pursue only self-interest, while the sole purpose of Lord Buddha is benefiting others. This is Way of the Bodhisattva.
On the celebration night, thousands of devotees enjoyed the Sichuan opera-faces changing, folk dance, Western musical instruments, and other artistic performances in the main auditorium hall of the temple. In the finales, Most Venerable Hui Xiong led the devotees to sing Buddhist songs, and the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration ended successfully.
