The Temple conducted usher the old & greet the new year ceremony.
Through online streaming, the ceremony will held at the main hall of Beeh Low See Temple Singapore. In light of the social distancing measures, only 50 devotees are allow to participate in the ceremony .
More than 3,000 devotees globally attended the prayer through lives streaming.
The abbot of the temple, the Chief Vice-President cum Secretary General of World Buddhist Sangha Council, Venerable Hui Xiong cordially invited the Vice President of World Buddhist Sangha Council,the President of Macao Buddhist Association and the Macao Buddhist Center Association, Venerable Jie Sheng to deliver the Dharma speech.
On the night, Venerable Jie Sheng talked about the globally spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. With the cooperation of the central government and the SAR government Macao, through the United Nations urges everyone to keep their distance, wear masks, and implement various preventive measures to suppress and control the spread of the pandemic virus. At the same time, Macao’s Buddhist community cooperated and conducted a series of Buddhist activities. Through the online streaming , we also call on the global Buddhist community to respond with the spirit of Buddhism and scientific ethics. Although many countries have been vaccinated, we still cannot take for granted neglect our vigilance or cultivate the wrong thinking that the pandemic can be prevented by the blessing of Buddhas. We must continue to take protective measures and use our wisdom to think about how to control the spread of the virus. At the same time, we also hope that everyone will not feel fear, stress and anxiety. We must cultivate a purify mind, to overcome and accept the reality.
On the night, devotees participated in the ceremony were strictly followed the social distancing. Before the prayer, everybody devoutly light incense in front of the Buddha statues and at the same time, broadcast the situation of various Southeast Asia Buddhist temple celebrating the New Year
and more than 100 cattle grazing pictures to welcome the new year.
On the 12th February morning, the abbot Most Venerable Hui Xiong led the devotees to pay homage to the Lord Buddha for the New Year at the Lian Chee Kek Buddhist Temple. Due to the pandemic, all devotees must register and make appointment before participating.
Therefore, through the live streaming, more devotees can participate and the abbot hope that everyone will recite mantras and pray for the better year.
The Secretary-General of the World Buddhist Sangha Council invited the Vice-President of the World Buddhist Sangha Council, and the abbot of Vien Giac Temple in Germany, Most Venerable Thich Nhu Dien to give Dharma speech through the lives streaming. Venerable Thich Nhu Dien congratulated all Buddhists around the world on the New Year and he shared the situation of the pandemic in Europe, especially in Italy, when the epidemic began to spread throughout Europe.
Through religion, the Buddhist community in Europe leads all Buddhists, to give confidence and encouragement to face the fact that the epidemic has spread, and cares about how local Buddhists can use the isolation time to calm their hearts and how to settle their minds and bodies during the epidemic to achieve inner peace. At the same time, he also call on Buddhists all over the world to take precautionary measures in the new year. As long as everyone has the perseverance and spirit of cooperation, regardless of whether it is a variant virus, the pandemic will be able to eliminate as soon as possible.
The abbot Venerable Hui Xiong led not more than 50 devotees of Lian Chee Kek Buddhist Temple to pay homage to Lord Buddha and pray for the peace, prosperity and healthy for the World, Nation, the leaders of the countries, all the governments of all civil and military officials, and people. During the break, the lives streaming broadcast the lighting up lanterns ceremony at Buddhist Temples in various regions. At 11.00am noon at Beeh Low See Temple, Secretary General of World Buddhist Sangha Council on behalf of the president of World Buddhist Sangha Council,
congratulated all Buddhist a Happy New Year.
The new year is the most important issue for the world. Hope the pandemic will cease soon , “Niu “(twisting) turns the universe”, （
means at a tough time, something happens that turns things around) to oust all the bad fortune, good fortunes and auspicious will come.
Due to the first day of the lunar new year , there were many devotees came to the temple to pay homage to the lord Buddha.
Therefore in-order to control the crowd , the temple only limited to 30 devotees to participate in the Buddha puja. The puja
Ceremony was grand and magnificent. After the puja, the President of Singapore Buddhist
Federation Most Venerable Guang Phing given the New year Dharma message through the lives streaming. Venerable Guang Phing
called on all global Buddhist community to follow the precautions measures implemented by their countries.
We Buddhists should use our Dharma wisdom in facing the pandemic virus. As long as we have a pure heart to accept the facts and cooperate with the measures of various governments, such as wearing masks, keep social distances , take care of our hygiene. Even though we cannot visit places nor going to the temple to chant and practice together as usual, we can participate in spiritual activities through lives streaming. The spirit of everyone’s cooperation can make the pandemic cease as soon as possible.
Due to the covid epidemic, the monastery can only prepare vegetarian lunch boxes for devotees to take home to enjoy. I hereby would like to wish everybody, success and
diligences in Dharma practice in the year of Ox.
